Gigs

Use calendar tools

Calendar tools are there to reduce double entry. You can bring real events into Gigditty, view gigs by date, and keep important gig details on the calendar you already use.

Quick path

  1. Open Gigs and choose Calendar View when you want to scan by date.
  2. Choose Import when you want to bring events in from your device calendar.
  3. Allow calendar access if your device asks for permission.
  4. Choose whether the imported gigs belong to you, a group, or a host organization.
  5. Select the events you want to import.
  6. Turn on other calendars only when the event you need is not shown.
  7. After importing, open the new gig and fill in any details the calendar did not have.

Use calendar view to scan your schedule

Calendar view is helpful when a list is not enough. It lets you scan dates, notice crowded weeks, and plan around other events.

Use it when you care more about timing than status. If you need to answer invites or clean up old work, the regular gig lists may be faster.

Import events instead of retyping them

Calendar import is useful when a gig already lives on your phone or computer calendar. Gigditty can use that event as a starting point, then you can add lineup, pay, documents, and other Gigditty details afterward.

Imported events are not magic copies of every detail. They are starting points that save time.

  • Start the import from the Gigs area.
  • Give calendar permission if your device asks.
  • Choose the owner for the imported gigs.
  • Select only the events that should become Gigditty gigs.
  • Open each imported gig and complete the details people need.

Choose the right import owner

Before importing, Gigditty asks who the gig belongs to. This matters because it controls who can help manage the gig and which visibility settings apply.

A private gig belongs to you. A group gig belongs to a band or shared roster. A host gig belongs to the venue or organization managing the booking.

Import ownerChoose it when
YouThe event is your personal booking or reminder and does not need a shared group or host owner.
GroupThe event belongs to a band, ensemble, or shared roster that admins help manage.
HostThe event belongs to a venue, organization, or booker-managed account.

Understand other calendars

Gigditty tries to keep the import list useful by focusing on personal and shared events. Some calendars, like holiday calendars or large subscribed calendars, can create a lot of noise.

If you do not see the event you need, use the option to show other calendars. That gives you a wider list to choose from.

Import only real gigs. Calendar import works best when you choose actual bookings, rehearsals, or event work instead of every reminder on your calendar.

Finish the gig after import

A calendar event usually has a title, date, and maybe a location. A useful Gigditty gig often needs more: people, pay, documents, notes, visibility, and follow-up.

After import, treat the new gig like any other Gigditty gig. Add the details that will help the right people prepare.

  • Check the title, time, and location.
  • Add the correct owner, lineup, and invitees.
  • Add pay, notes, and documents if they apply.
  • Use public promotion only when the gig is meant to be shared with guests.
  • Review the imported gig later if the original calendar event changes.

Calendar import saves typing, not judgment. Always review imported gigs before relying on them for communication or payment tracking.
